Coaches

Alan Ho
Coach Ho is the head of the Tennis Program and is entering his twelfth year coaching, eight of which have been at Capo Valley. Moving into his fourth year as the Girls' Varsity Head Coach and his ninth as the Boys', he is incredibly excited to continue to build on the program's recent achievements, which include two league titles for the girls and two league titles plus a CIF Championship for the boys, all within the past three years. Beyond his coaching duties, Coach Ho also teaches IB/AP Lang and English I at San Clemente High School.

Ed Speer
Coach Ed is entering his tenth year as the Girls’ and Boys' JV Coach. Listing all of his tennis accolades would be a futile endeavor, but a few highlights from his prodigious tennis career include League Champions and CIF Champions in high school, several tournament wins well into his...older years (you won't get Coach Ed's age here), assisting in Capo Valley's first Boys' CIF Tennis Championship, and numerous other tennis accomplishments. Coach Ed’s only daughter graduated from Capo Valley in 2017. Fun Fact: Coach Ed's best man was his tennis coach when he was married, and he hopes to have the same positive impact on his athletes.

Sue Slusher
Coach Sue has been playing tennis for thirty years and has been coaching for eight. She graduated from USC and is the mother of five amazing kids. A twelve-time captain of her league tennis team, she has also reached the finals in Merecedes-Benz Pro-Am classic. Her goal is to expose the young students under her care to love the sport of tennis.

Stephen Loreto
Coach Stephen focuses on player development and encouraging participation in USTA and UT Sports team tennis leagues during the off-season. His tennis journey began at age nine, and over thirty years later, he continues to share his passion as both an RSPA (Racquet Sports Professional) and PTR (Professional Tennis Registry) certified professional. Currently serving as the RSPA SoCal Division District 6 President, Coach Stephen works as a resident tennis and pickleball teaching professional at the City of Mission Viejo Tennis and Recreation Centers while maintaining his full-time role as a Senior IT Administrator at IMI. His competitive accomplishments include two USTA Men's team memberships and competing at USTA Nationals twice within three years. Coach Stephen lives in Mission Viejo with his wife Luz and three daughters, Alysea, Magda, and Quintina, all of whom play tennis. Through coaching, he strives to develop not only tennis skills, but also strong character traits like teamwork, respect, and responsibility both on and off the court.

Kellie Hoang
Coach Kellie has played tennis for 10+ years, played on varsity for four years (achieving Sea View League Doubles Runner-Ups as a junior and Sea View League Doubles Champions as a senior with her partner, Raina), was a captain of her league-winning team during her senior year, and played two years for Saddleback College's Women's Tennis (primarily playing at Line 3 Singles and at Line 2 Doubles last season). She brings a wealth of experience, an amazing kindness & affability, and a much-needed injection of youth into our program. Coach Kellie will only be with us for the summer before she attends UCLA in the fall.
