2025-2026 Capistrano Valley High School Tennis Tryouts Information

MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: All prospective team members must complete their athletic clearances at https://www.athleticclearance.com/ BEFORE tryouts begin. All documentation must be uploaded online and show CLEARED status before tryout participation (physical copies will NOT be accepted).

Students without completed clearances will NOT be permitted to try out.

Complete your clearance immediately, as processing can take several days. This is your first step toward making one of our teams.

Making the Team:

Selection for our tennis program is a PRIVILEGE, NOT a right. While we value previous tennis experience, participation in our program (or others) in prior years, regardless of level, does not guarantee placement on one of our teams. Our tennis program extends well beyond practices and competitions, including but not limited to early morning activities, school events, fundraising activities, and team bonding throughout the season. We encourage prospective players to carefully consider their ability to commit to all aspects of our program before trying out. Our coaching staff is looking at players on both their tennis skills and their potential to contribute positively to our team culture, seeking team members who will represent Capistrano Valley High School with excellence on and off the court as true SCHOLAR-athletes.

GIRLS’ Tryouts

Dates: Tuesday, July 29th – Thursday, July 31st (Attendance at all days is mandatory)
Times:

  • Frosh: 9:00 am – 10:15 am
  • JV: 10:15 am – 11:30 am (come warmed up and ready to play, tryout matches will occur immediately and there will not be warmup courts available before the start time)
  • Varsity: 11:30 am – 1:00 pm (come warmed up and ready to play, tryout matches will occur immediately and there will not be warmup courts available before the start time)

Location: Capistrano Valley High School Tennis Courts
Required Items: Tennis racquet, proper tennis shoes, athletic apparel, and water
Other: For players who make the team, practices begin immediately August 4th – 8th and August 11th – 15th

  • Varsity: 8:00 am – 10:00 am
  • JV: 9:00 am – 11:00 am
  • Frosh: 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

Varsity/JV matches begin the first week of school. Frosh matches begin the second week of school.

BOYS’ Tryouts

Dates: Tuesday, November 18th – Wednesday, November 19th (Attendance at both days is mandatory)
Time: 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm
Location: Capistrano Valley High School Tennis Courts
Required Items: Tennis racquet, proper tennis shoes, athletic apparel, and water
Other: A 6th Period PE class or a free 6th Period is required (exceptions may be possible for Wind Ensemble/Orchestra/Band)
Practice Schedule:

  • Mondays: 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm
  • Tuesdays/Thursdays: 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm
  • Wednesdays: 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm
  • Fridays: 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm
